New Zealand Certificate in Health and Wellbeing (Level 2)

40 credits (12 weeks)

Tuition Fee:

  • Work Visa Holders - $2,800.00 (plus GST)

Programme Overview

NZQF: Level 2

Total credits: 40

Delivery length: 12 weeks

Directed online learning: 20 hours per week. The programme is delivered ONLINE with no time off work required. Students are provided with an individual learning plan and are supported throughout their study by a learning facilitator and programme coordinator.

Work placement: 80 clinical hours.

At successful completion of the Certificate in Health and Wellbeing (Level 2) students will be awarded the New Zealand Certificate in Health and Wellbeing (Level 2).
 

Programme Outline

The Certificate in Health and Wellbeing (Level 2) is taught in 8 NZQA modules, 5 required non-NZQA modules and face-to-face sessions.

  • Apply Personal Plan Requirements 

  • Moving Equipment and People 

  • Identify the Impact of Culture on Support 

  • Infection Control 

  • Interact with People to Provide Support 

  • Medication Stage 1 Prompting 

  • Recognise and Report Risks and Changes 

  • Take Care, Taking Care

Clinical eLearning (required non-NZQA modules):

​

  • Person Centred Care 

  • Palliative Care 

  • Pressure Care and Skin Integrity 

  • Support a person to meet personal care needs 

  • Diabetes Management and Insulin Administration

​

Face-to-Face (In-person) sessions:​

​

  • Introduction to NZ Aged Care 

  • Manual handling 

  • Practical Infection Control

  • Scenario-based Discussion

​

Additional non-NZQA modules (recommended):

​

  • First Response (First Aid) Training

  • Preventive and Responding to Falls

  • Dying Process and Care After Death

​

Entry Criteria

New Zealand Citizen or Permanent Resident/Resident Visa holders:
 

  • Verified NSN / Non-verifed NSN: Sight driver's license, passport or NZ birth certificate / No NSN: Will create a NSN by sighting driver's license, passport, or NZ birth certificate

  • ​Physically able to do the job

  • Willingness to work with the older person

  • Has the ability to complete the course work and assignments, online.


Work Visa Holders (Classed as International Students):


As per above, PLUS

  • Accredited Employer Work Visa holders: Supply verified visa documents

  • Open Work Visa: Minimum 1 year from the date they complete the Training agreement. Supply verified visa documents

To be accepted as certified document (s), these need to be signed and dated by a person authorised to take declarations. This could be a:

  • Justice of Peace (JP)

  • Lawyer

  • Barrister

  • Notary Public

  • Court Registrar or Deputy Registar

  • Member of Parliament
