POLICY FOR SUPPORT SERVICES AND CLINICAL PRACTICUM

Purpose 

Carehub Global Services purpose of this policy is to establish guidelines for the support services and clinical practicum provided to learners and trainees enrolled in the Health and Wellbeing programmes. This policy aims to ensure that all learners receive high-quality practical learning experiences that enhance their training and education, and prepare them for professional roles in healthcare settings.

Scope 

This policy applies to all learners, faculty, and staff involved in the clinical practicum component of the Health and Wellbeing programs at Carehub Global Services NZ Limited.

Definitions 

  • Clinical Practicum: A supervised practical application of previously studied theory conducted in a healthcare setting. 

  • Support Services: Resources and assistance provided to learners to facilitate their learning and professional development during the clinical practicum. 

  • Mentor: An experienced Registered Nurse or Healthcare Assistant assigned to guide and support learners and trainees during their clinical practicum. 

  • Learners or Trainees: Individuals who are eligible and enrolled to the programmes, may refer to domestic or international students. 

 

Policy Statement 

1. Clinical Practicum Placement 

1.1. All learners enrolled in the Health and Wellbeing programs must complete a clinical practicum as part of their curriculum requirements.

1.2. Clinical practicum placements will be arranged in collaboration with accredited healthcare facilities that provide suitable learning environments.

1.3. Placement decisions will consider the educational and training  needs of learners, availability of mentors, and the capacity of the healthcare facility.

2. Support Services 

2.1. Carehub Global Services will provide comprehensive support services to students throughout their clinical practicum.

 

2.2. Support services include, but are not limited to: 

  • Pre-placement orientation and training 

  • Ongoing mentorship and supervision 

  • Access to educational resources and materials 

  • Emotional and psychological support 

  • Regular feedback and performance evaluations

3. Roles and Responsibilities 

3.1. Learners 

  • Attend all pre-placement orientation sessions. 

  • Adhere to the policies and procedures of the healthcare facility. 

  • Demonstrate professionalism and a commitment to learning. 

  • Seek guidance and support from assigned mentors as needed. 

 

3.2. Faculty or Assessors 

  • Coordinate with healthcare facilities to arrange clinical practicum placements. 

  • Provide learners with necessary pre-placement training. 

  • Monitor learners progress and provide feedback. 

  • Address any issues or concerns that arise during the practicum.

3.3. Mentors or Verifier 

  • Supervise and support  learners during their clinical practicum. 

  • Provide practical training and guidance. 

  • Offer regular feedback and conduct performance assessments. 

  • Ensure learners and trainees adhere to the standards and practices of the healthcare facility.

4. Health and Safety 

4.1. All learners and trainees must undergo health and safety training before commencing their clinical practicum.

4.2. They must comply with the health and safety policies of the healthcare facility, including infection control procedures, emergency protocols, and use of personal protective equipment (PPE).

4.3. Any incidents or accidents must be reported immediately to the appropriate authority within the healthcare facility and Carehub Global Services.

 

5. Evaluation and Feedback 

5.1. All learners and trainees will receive regular feedback on their performance from their mentors and faculty. 

5.2. Formal evaluations will be conducted at the midpoint and conclusion of the practicum.

5.3. Learners and trainees are encouraged to provide feedback on their practicum experience to help improve the program.

 

6. Confidentiality 

6.1. All learners and trainees must maintain the confidentiality of patient information at all times in accordance with healthcare facility policies and relevant legislation.

6.2. Breaches of confidentiality will result in disciplinary action, up to and including removal from the practicum and the program.

Review and Revision 

This policy will be reviewed annually and revised as necessary to ensure it remains current and effective.
